What is FBLA?

FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. FBLA is a high school club aimed at bringing the business world to today's youth. It not only teaches business skills, but also leadership. Every chapter is ran by a Leadership Team, which is made up of members of the chapter. Even though FBLA is geared towards business, that is not the only thing FBLA is about. FBLA is a great way to get community service hours and give back to your community. In addition, competitions at the State Leadership Contest are not only about business. There are tests ranging from computer games to agriculture, and you can complete a multitude of group competitions, such as website design or digital video production. No matter what your interests are, FBLA has a competition for you. And, in FBLA you make life long friends.

"FBLA to me isn't just taking tests and getting awards. It is leadership skills, extensive knowledge, and long lasting friendships. Yes in FBLA you study for the state and national levels, but through it all you learn how to handle yourself in situations, you become more professional, and you earn some amazing friends while going through the process."

"FBLA is the Future Business Leaders of America. Through FBLA, you learn leadership skills, time management, and organization. You make impacts throughout your community through community service projects. FBLA and competing at the State Leadership Conference in tests has made an impact on my life through the experience and the friendships that I have made.

FBLA can help to prepare you for your future. Not only does it teach you a plethora of business skills, but it teaches you how to meet deadlines and deal with different situations. It teaches you teamwork and gives you community service hours. It gives you leadership skills that will come in handy in any job you get, and being a member of FBLA looks great on a resume or college application. You can even earn scholarships through FBLA.

"My name is Allie Johnson and participating in FBLA was one of the best decisions I made during my high school career. I have been a member of the Chadron FBLA chapter since my freshman year and have had the privilege to serve as an officer for the last three years. During my time in FBLA, I learned a lot about business and even more about myself. I have been pushed to new limits by participating in community events, interacting with business people, and competing at state and national levels.

If I could offer any advice to new members, it would be to get involved! I can honestly say that, had I not been active during my freshman year and competed at State, I would not be in FBLA today with all of the officer titles, experience, and state recognition that I have been so lucky as to receive.

So get going, members! Participate in cake raffles, join committees, and go to State Leadership Conference! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for our chapter. Go Cards!"

"Many people do not acknowledge the fact that FBLA is more than a typical high school club. It is not simply an activity to list on your resume; it is an unforgettable, life-changing experience that supplies endless opportunities for personal development, community involvement, and preparation for future endeavours. In the three years I have been an active member of FBLA, I have broadened my horizons by participating in projects that did not initially appeal to me and by making new friends along the way. Through FBLA, I have emerged as a leader and a confident young adult ready to embark on a new and exciting stage of life. Without FBLA, I never would have developed into the person I am today or have been exposed to the plethora of information available. By allowing me to step out of my comfort zone, FBLA pushed me to become a well-rounded individual, able to understand various subjects and aspects of life. As my knowledge on business abounded, as did my knowledge on personal finance, the medical field, and other seemingly unrelated areas that appealed to me. In FBLA, there is something for everyone! FBLA has taught me that the sky's the limit, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunities it provided and the friends it allowed me to make."
