Trick or Treat for

Canned Goods

This year, our chapter decided to resurrect the community service project Trick-or-Treat for canned goods. We asked our members to donate their time from 5-7 on Halloween and walk around town, collecting food. The members arranged themselves into teams of 2 to 5 and competed for bragging rights, a picture on the FBLA bulletin board, and their picture on this website. All the proceeds were donated to the Shepherd's Pantry. To the left are all the members involved in Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods, to the bottom left is the finals results of the competition as well as the total amount of cans collected, and to the bottom right is a picture of the winning team, AJ^2. Chadron FBLA plans to integrate this project into our annual list of community service projects. Thank you to everyone who donated cans and the members who donated their time!

Myia Hamaker

Every year, the Chadron FBLA chapter attends the State Leadership Conference in Omaha. This event represents the pinnacle of our year, allowing members to display their expertise in business through tests and projects, and giving members the opportunity to qualify for the National Leadership Conference which, this year, is located in Atlanta, Georgia. Chadron FBLA experienced great success this year at the State Leadership Conference. Members also got the chance to eat at The Cheesecake Factory and go on a professional business tour through Cabela's. View our success below. Click on slideshows to enlarge and view full captions.

Business Achievement Awards (BAA) are also an important aspect of State Leadership Conference. The BAA's award FBLA members who become involved in their chapter through various projects. The three categories a member must complete multiple projects in are Service, Education, and Progress. There are four levels of the BAA's, increasing in difficulty: Future, Business, Leader, and America. This year, Chadron FBLA had six members achieve the Future level of the award. They are:

Jayden Garrett

Hunter Hawk

Harlie Kennell

Brooks Roberts

Keegan Shuck

Brooklyn Stack

On the second night of the conference, members who received Honorable Mention for their tests or projects are honored with certificates. To receive Honorable Mention, members must be in the top 4% of their test or project. FBLA members who received Honorable Mention were:

MiaKayla Koerbor - Agribusiness

Corbin Johnson - Business Calculations

Jayden Stack - Business Calculations

Alison Gardner - Business Communication

Corbin Johnson - Business Law

Aubree Noble - FBLA Principles and Procedures

Alex Eisenbarth - Future Business Leader

Corbin Johnson - Insurance Risk and Management

At the final awards ceremony, 1st through 3rd place are honored with trophies. In most tests and projects, 1st through 3rd place receive the honor of representing Nebraska at the National Leadership Conference. This year, Chadron FBLA qualified a record number of nine members for the National Leadership Conference. One member from Chadron who received fourth place also gets to attend Nationals, because second place had already competed at the National Leadership Conference in that test before and was therefore ineligible. The nine students who qualified are:

Allie Johnson - Health Care Administration (4th place)

Corbin Johnson - Health Care Administration (3rd place)

Jayden Garrett (not competing in at Nationals) - Health Care Administration (1st place)

Alison Gardner, Kaci Waugh, and Greta Welch - Hospitality Management (3rd place)

Hunter Hawk, Aubree Noble, and Brooklyn Stack - Website Design (1st place)

Jayden Garrett (competing in at Nationals) - Job Interview (2nd place)

Chadron FBLA also had four members achieve the second level of the BAA's: Business. This level requires more dedication and rigorous involvement than the Future level. All four of these member achieved the Future award last year. They are:

Myia Hamaker

Allie Johnson

Alyssa Noble

Aubree Noble

On the last day of the conference, the final awards ceremony is held. At this ceremony, 1st through 8th place for every test and project are called on stage individually and awarded for their success with a certificate. This year, Chadron FBLA had three members place in 4th to 8th place. Those members are:

Hunter Hawk - Accounting I (5th place)

Jadyn McCartney, Kaci Waugh, and Greta Welch - American Enterprise Project (7th place)

Alison Gardner and Myia Hamaker - Business Ethics (7th place)
